If you are struggling with a health issue, life change or caregiver responsibilities, the Oscar and Ella Wilf Campus for Senior Living offers support groups that can help. Support groups bring people together to share common experiences, offer emotional comfort and even gain practical advice. Sometimes just talking with others in similar situations can be helpful in coping with challenging situations.
Support groups at The Wilf Campus are ongoing and cover different topics. Anyone can join a group at any time, registration is encouraged and attendance is free. Here is a sampling of some of our upcoming groups and meetings:
Low Vision Support Group
Join our support group for the visually impaired. This group is a gathering of people coping with vision loss due to age-related macular degeneration or other causes of vision loss.
Groups meet every second Friday of the month from 4:00 – 5:00 pm at the Wilentz Senior Residence, 360 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ. The next meeting will take place on Friday, August 12th. Caregiver Support Group
Join our community of caregivers in a warm and welcoming environment where you can feel free to discuss the experiences of being a caregiver for an elderly or unwell loved one. Our Caregiver Support Group is a place where caregivers can feel understood and supported in the face of day-to-day challenges.
Groups meet every fourth Wednesday of the month from 3:30 – 5:00 pm at the Wilentz Senior Residence, 360 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, August 24th. Bereavement Support Group
If you have experienced the loss of a family member, friend or loved one, join our Bereavement Support Group. This group provides the opportunity to understand the grieving process, gain emotional support and share coping strategies in a kind and empathetic setting.
Groups meet every second Tuesday of the month, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm at the Stein Hospice Office, 49 Veronica Ave, Suite 206, Somerset, NJ. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 9th. For more information or to RSVP, call Lori Dillon, LCSW, Social Worker at Stein Hospice (732) 227-1212.
