Stein Hospice Honors Local Veterans at the End of Life

Did you know that 4.4% of the nation’s 17.4 million veterans live in New Jersey? That is 308,012 men and women who have served our country, sacrificing their own lives for our freedoms. As the nation honors American heroes for their military service on Veterans Day, November 11, Stein Hospice extends recognition to the military veterans and families in our care. This Veteran’s Day we present certificates and flag pins to our veterans and their families, thanking them for their patriotic service.  Additionally, local elementary school students made and donated appreciation cards for our veterans.

Every day 1,800 Veterans die in the US.  A generation of World War II and Korean War Veterans are facing end-of-life care decisions now, and they are quickly being followed by younger Vietnam War Veterans, many of whom are confronting serious illnesses at an even earlier age. Most veterans turn to community-based hospices like Stein Hospice to help them stay comfortable at home when diagnosed with a life limiting illness. It is our honor to give back to these brave men and women, even during a pandemic, to keep them safe, to keep them comfortable and to provide the compassionate support they want and deserve.

The price paid by these brave men and women allows each of us to enjoy the freedoms found in the United States. So if you see a veteran today, or any day, please thank them for their service. If you know of a veteran, or anyone, in the community in need of hospice care, or if you have a question regarding hospice care, call Stein Hospice at (732) 227-1212. We are here to help.
