Bridgewater Rabbi Brings Music to Stein Hospice

Rabbi Ron Isaacs, who served at Temple Sholom in Bridgewater for 40 years, fill[s] his time as a new retiree us[ing] his guitar-playing skills and love for music to enliven, engage and inspire senior citizens.

Families of ailing seniors contact Isaacs through Stein Hospice to request the “bedside musician” to visit their loved one to bring them comfort and companionship through music. Part of Stein Hospice’s “Chords of Comfort” program, Isaacs work as a “bedside musician” augments the [hospice’s] therapy program which includes harp therapy, massage therapy, and aromatherapy. The therapy program is funded through The Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Foundation, which awarded Stein with an endowment several years ago.

“In the short time he has been here, Rabbi Isaacs has already given joy to our staff, patients and families,” Bruce Birnberg, executive director of Stein Hospice, said. “His work induces smiles in places one doesn’t usually find any.”  He added, “We are so blessed to add his important work to the other therapies offered to Stein Hospice patients.”
