Outside Visitation Now Permitted at Stein Assisted Living

July 1, 2020 — On June 21st, the NJ Department of Health issued a directive permitting in-person visits with residents of long-term care communities within the state. The directive was announced during Phase 2 of the Multi-Stage Approach—also known as the “NJ Road Back” Plan.

“Being apart from our loved ones has been one of the most difficult challenges throughout the pandemic — especially for long-term care residents and their families. This directive outlines the measures that must be in place to reduce risk to this vulnerable population while allowing visits outdoors,” said Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli in a recent press release.

Family members of Stein Assisted Living residents were recently briefed on the directive as well as details on the current NJ State requirements. The recent letter to families also included details on Stein Assisted Living’s own policies and how the facility plans to conduct visitation.

State mandated precautions include social distancing measures of at least six-feet between visitors and residents. Guidelines also include a limit of two visitors, symptom screenings and mask-use among other standards.

A general overview of what visitors at Stein Assisted Living can currently expect includes:

  • Scheduling an appointment during designated hours
  • Screening and consent upon arrival
  • Timed and observed visitation in the front patio
  • Social distance indicators
  • Disinfecting of any used objects (pens, doorhandles, etc.)

“I understand that the rules governing visits are restrictive. There are reasons for that – the health, safety, and survival of your loved ones”, wrote Executive Director Charlie Placek in his address to family members. So far, turn out and compliance has been great after the first weekend of visitation at Stein Assisted Living. The facility and the Wilf Campus are happy to see family members staying united, connected, and most importantly — safe!
