Dear Residents, Patients, Family Members and Friends of the Wilf Campus,
No one could have predicted four months ago that the COVID-19 pandemic would hit our country and the world as it did. Unfortunately, the pandemic is not over yet, and many areas are still suffering from this crisis. Currently here in New Jersey, while we seem to have controlled the impact of the virus, there are serious concerns that it will reemerge in a “second wave.” The pandemic has affected every aspect of our lives and my heart goes out to all our friends and families whose lives have been impacted by the virus.
With New Jersey slowly lifting restrictions across the state, the Wilf Campus for Senior Living continues to monitor daily the recommendations from the NJ Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As you read and hear about restrictions being lifted in the state for many businesses and families, the Wilf Campus for Senior Living is taking a more cautious approach in our community. Please know this is being done for the health and safety of our residents, as they are our number one priority.
We are happy that we are finally able to allow outdoor visitation and welcome families back to visit our residents at Stein Assisted Living. It is great to see our residents once again visiting, laughing and spending time with their families. Since we started outdoor visitation more than three weeks ago we have already welcomed over 200 family members to our campus. Although we do not know what the next few months will look like, we have already begun to think about how we can continue visitation as the fall and winter seasons approach and outdoor visits are no longer possible.
Of course, when our seniors are not with their families, they are being taken care of by our dedicated staff – their extended Wilf Campus family. Our Stein Assisted Living staff have been exceptional, caring for the health and well-being of our residents and finding new and innovative ways to keep our residents happy and engaged, while following social distancing requirements and other protocols. Our staff at Stein Hospice and Wilf At Home have continued to provide outstanding care and services to patients wherever they call home. Our Wilf Transport team quickly implemented new protocols and has been able to safely transport our clients to dialysis and doctor’s appointments. The Wilentz Senior Residence staff has ensured that the residents at our independent living building remain happy and healthy during these times of social isolation.
As we move forward, COVID-19 testing and screening continues to be a top priority. Currently, our Wilf Campus staff and residents at Stein Assisted Living have been tested and are regularly screened for symptoms. We have also implemented the use of the Accushield Sign-in Kiosk at each of our buildings to perform symptom screenings of staff and visitors, track who is in the building and aid in contact tracing. In addition, our Clinical Compliance Committee – comprised of Wilf Campus trustees who are health care professionals – has been actively involved in overseeing our infection control protocols. We continue to follow closely the protocols and guidelines mandated by the CDC and the NJ DOH.
I want to thank you for your cooperation, trust, partnership and patience during these unprecedented times. And mostly, for entrusting us with the care of your loved ones.
Warm regards,
