Michael and Sherryl Kaufman Dedicate Wilf Campus Author Lecture Series

The Foundation of Wilf Campus for Senior Living is pleased to announce the dedication of the Alexander Joseph Kaufman Author Lecture Series, following a generous contribution from Sherryl and Michael Kaufman.

The Alexander Joseph Kaufman Memorial Author Lecture Series is a program in which participants can hear directly from a variety of talented authors as they share their motivations and stories behind a selected body of work. While the program is currently being presented virtually, the Campus intends to host the series in-person after the current pandemic subsides. Michael Kaufman kicked off the first annual lecture this past December with a discussion on his children’s book series, Fox and Camel.

The Kaufmans’ dedication was made in memory of Alexander Joseph Kaufman, Michael’s younger brother. Alexander was born in November 1959, the second son to Mary (Marika) and George (Tibi) Kaufman, both Holocaust survivors who hailed from Pápa, Hungary, which they escaped during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Sadly, at the age of six, Alexander developed a pediatric brain tumor and succumbed to the disease in 1966. “May this naming bring light to us all and may the Author Lecture series go from strength to strength, grow annually and bring joy and wisdom to people everywhere,” said Michael Kaufman.

The next author lecture in the series will take place on February 16th, 2020 and will feature Libby Copeland, author of The Lost Family: How DNA is Upending Who We Are. The Lost Family looks at how commercial DNA testing (for ancestry and family history research) is changing how we view our families and themselves. This lecture is being held in partnership with the Jewish Book Council. For more information on how to register for this event and purchase the book, visit
