Our Stein Assisted Living residents recently enjoyed an indoor/outdoor Luau Celebration featuring hula dancers! There was pineapple upside down cake, fruit kebabs, a scratch-off ticket game, and frozen beverages! Thank you Dragonfly Production for an amazing program – ‘Rock-A-Luau’ – a show that mixes traditional Hawaiian hula, the fast-paced hip movements of Tahitian dance, dramatic fire acts, and audience participation.
The dancers used instruments and props, including ipu (gourd drum), ‘uli’ulis (feathered gourd rattles), i’is (hand tassels) and more to add sound, color, and energy to compliment the music and dancers movements. Our residents especially enjoyed learning some real hula dance moves.
