Calling all Knitters and Crocheters

Crocheters and knitters are crafting scarves for the staff members who work tirelessly year-round at the Oscar and Ella Wilf Campus for Senior Living as a way to show gratitude for the compassion and care they give to the senior citizens every day. Wilf Campus is a multifaceted senior living organization, working year round to take care of our residents and senior community members to make sure they live fulfilling, independent lives as their care requirements continue to change.

We wanted to create a very special way to thank our staff members for their dedicated, professional, warm care and, at the same time, further connect our staff to the community at large. To make this incredible thank you happen, we are asking for volunteers to knit or crochet a scarf to be given to each of our staff members at our annual holiday party in December.

“This is a way to show our Wilf Campus staff how much we appreciate them through a personal; handmade touch of gratitude. We are reaching out to the residents, resident’s families, community members of Somerset and Highland Park, board members and friends of friends of friends and word of mouth,” – Jackie Kott, Stein’s Director of recreation.

The goal is to collect 155 scarves for their male and female staff members which would be distributed at the campus’ annual holiday party in December.

  • All scarves must be received by December 1st, 2015.
  • We are asking you to simply sign up to make a scarf by
    • Sending an e-mail to Jackie Kott at [email protected]
    • Or calling Jackie Kott at 732–568–1155 ext. 324.

Once your scarves are completed, they can be dropped off at Stein Assisted Living Residence located at 350 Demott Lane or Wilentz Senior Housing Residence located at 360 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ. There will be a bin with bags for you to leave your scarves in and an information card to fill out. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you fill out the card and place your handmade gift in the bags provided. If transportation to get the scarf here is an issue, we may be able to pick up your scarf, please contact us for more information.

If you know of any other knitters or crochets please pass on the information as we could use many donations.

Thank you in advance for helping to make our staff who take care of older adults every day feel special.
